Just split a huge Hosta today! Zone 6 - right oustide Buffalo, New York. We never did this before. My neighbor and I share our plants. All I did was dig down far enough to get some roots and handed them over the fence. She had a planting spot all re…

The best time to split hostas seems to be about any time that's convenient for you. I usually do it in the spring, just as new growth is coming up, as it's easy to see the clump, but you don't have to fight with lots of leaves. That's probably a goo…

When I first moved into my house (Memphis, TN, zone 7b), there was a sick, huge, half-dead-looking hosta clump sticking halfway under a wooden fence built by some short-term residents. Before that the home had been owned by a dedicated gardener. Aft…

Hi,

I caught the show a few days ago and spent a couple of hours last night catching up on some of the earlier shows. This stuff is both insightful and entertaining. I love it. Especially the Rhubarb show.

One request I do have though. Any chance you could show us Brits how to make a good old fashioned, American, Pumpkin Pie? As its fast aproaching the harvest season that is.

Many Thanks

John
